This unit is ideal for home study as well as curriculum used in a classroom. Due to the nature of the materials used, we recommend that when used by children there be an adult supervision. A full understanding of the complexities and interactions that exist in the world requires an understanding of chemistry. Chemistry is the science that treats the composition of substances and the reactions they create when they are combined. This unit will help students increase their perceptive and analytical capabilities. To better understand basic scientific concepts, it is important that experiments in the book be performed in the order presented. This hands-on exploration used will enable the student to make observations and predictions to weigh and measure materials and to record findings. From this they can construct an understanding of basic scientific concepts and learn problem-solving techniques and critical thinking skills. Chemistry units contain some hazardous chemicals. There must be adult supervision. We recommend a minimum age level of 10.
